Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program at Premier Combat Center

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Program at Premier Combat Center

Last May, Premier Combat Center lost a beloved friend, brother, and extremely gifted Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Professor. Over the past year, Felipe’s passing is something that many coaches and students have struggled to process. Not only has his absence left a void in our Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program, but also a void in our hearts. For those that never had the privilege to meet Professor Felipe Diniz, he was an exceptional individual that greeted everyone with an infectious smile and hug. His absence is felt every day, and we all miss him dearly. Although we could never replace Felipe, we know that he would have wanted us to continue on our collective Martial Arts journey, especially his beloved Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

After an extensive search, we were lucky to find 3rd degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt, Tony Souza. After months of work with lawyers, U.S. immigration, and the visa process, we are excited to welcome Tony Souza as the full-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Professor at Premier Combat Center. As a world-class Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Professor and competitor, Tony comes with impeccable credentials and a wealth of Martial Arts experience from the age of five. His addition will undoubtedly raise the level of instruction in the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program.

With Professor Souza’s arrival, as well as increased growth in all programs, we have made some additions/changes to the schedule. To fully utilize Souza’s talents, he will be teaching all Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes effective Monday, August 1, 2016.

In lieu of the Foundations Open Mat on Friday, we have added a third class each week to the Foundations Boxing, Foundations Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Foundations Muay Thai Kickboxing programs. Additional morning classes have been added to both the Foundations and Advanced Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, and Boxing programs.

With regard to the Youth Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu program, the current class for 10-14 year olds will move from Tuesday/Thursday at 6:00 PM-7:00 PM & Sat at 10:00 AM-11:00 AM to Mon/Wed/Fri at 5:00 PM-6:00 PM. The current Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu class for 5-9 year olds will remain on Tuesday/Thursday at 5:15 PM-6:00 PM. This will also allow the 10-14 year old students enrolled in both MMA and BJJ to attend Mon/Wed/Fri BJJ class from 5:00 PM-6:00 PM, followed by MMA class from 6:00 PM-7:00 PM.

As Martial Artists, we are constantly growing and evolving – as we continue to grow and evolve as a business, we’re grateful for your patience and understanding as we make these changes. The schedule changes are effective this Monday, August 1, 2016. If you need to change any of your current enrollments due to the schedule change, please stop at the front desk. Please see the updated schedules posted in the gym, on our website, and our facebook page.
